Tonka bean

Tonka bean is contained in the fruit of the Brazilian teak tree (Dipteryx odorata), which can grow up to 30 m tall. It is native to the Caribbean and South America. Although it grows from Mexico to Brazil, it is mainly found in Venezuela, Guyana and Brazil. The word tonka comes from the Tupi language of Guyana and Brazil, where it refers to the tree itself. Amazonian Indians consider it a good-luck charm.
