Goulash, goulash or goulash soup is originally a Hungarian soup, widespread throughout Central Europe, especially in the Carpathian plain. While the preparation varies, the basic ingredients remain meat (beef, veal, pork, lamb or mutton), vegetables (carrot, tomato, turnip cabbage, bell pepper, etc.), herbs: onion, pepper, salt and the indispensable paprika. The result is a highly recognizable red color. It can be prepared in a pot(Bográcsgulyás) or in a stewpot(Gulyásleves).
